I am a hobbyist and avid scrapbooker. I was recently faced with a terrible situation. As mother of the groom, I didn't want to be snapping photos all night at my son's wedding. My friend came to do the video and snapped some stills as well. My daughter in law had a friend as the official photographer, but she hasn't come up with any pictures yet. I am afraid that the ones my friend took will be the only ones, we have only two of the actual ceremony, the bride's back as she hears my son's vows. The bride actually closed her eyes on many of the shots, so I am trying to clone some open eyes on the photos that aren't awful. Why doesn't someone invent an "eye brush" tool?
Ouch - sorry to hear about the troubles with the wedding photographer.
Don't know of an eye-brush tool - but you've identified a market - go make it and become a millionaire!! LOL
and, BTW, welcome to the forum.
Welvome to the forum.......sorry to hear about your wedding picture woes.
Maybe the friend sent them off to be printed. I don't know how long it's been, but I would be calling her!

For the bride's gown, to save money, would you go to someone who makes her own dresses, or would you go to an established professional? Then why go cheap on the photographer?
Mac, thats why I decided after this next wedding, I'm going to give it up. People want CHEAP Photographers who do professional work. I decided I would just have fun and keep it as a hobby.

Same here Jacquie.
It's a great hobby, it's lots of fun, I find it very relaxing and it gives me an excuse to travel. Why mess it up with worry and aggravation.
Welcome to the UHH
Hello & Welcome
Never would I consider being a wedding photographer. I do believe every wedding should have two photographers and a video team.
Almost every wedding I've attended someone angrily asked, "did he get that picture?" As if the poor photographer can predict every situation.

Welcome Aboard. Sorry to hear of your wedding problems. Ive heard alot of them. Ive photograph weddings for 39 years and never had a problem. Being a good photographer dont make you a good wedding photographer.Thats only half the job. You have to know what to take and when to take it. Also be ready for the unexpected. You have to know how to handle people. Its not an easy job but very rewarding When you see how the bride lights up when she sees the photographs. I never advertised all my work came by word of mouth.
Hal81--My hat is off to you. I've seen people suing their wedding photographer on court TV ( while visiting my mother in the rest home) who have expected the photographer to seemingly have the magical ability to capture everything, everywhere, in perfect focus. Any mistake and they not only want a full refund they want reimbursement for pain & suffering, emotional distress and probably for causing irritated bowel syndrome.
At most weddings, I've seen at least one pro gliding among the guests carrying several cameras. Again, I salute you.
