I really like it, the little one made me giggle. He has that total "What???" look going on. It melts my heart.

Eyes are nice sharp (for both Mom and the little guy). They looked relaxed, she looks proud and so in love with her little one. I actually have a little tear in my eye (darn these meds!).

My only nit picks would be the skin tone on Mom looks a little off (she has some yellowing happening around the corner of her lips). Baby has typical baby splotchy red skin, an easy clean up in CS5 and your cropped his little fingers off.

I'm totally loving this shot. <3

Oh, and one more thing. I got real lucky with the bags under her eyes. I used the healing brush in cs5 for that. I wasn't sure how to handle the baby's skin so I didn't push it.

I can teach you how to do baby skin in a few really easy steps in CS5. It in no means is the "pro" way to do it, but it get's the job done pretty good for hobbyist shots if I do say so myself.

I'll add,
Their faces are close to each other.
They look comfortable/relaxed.
Looking at the camera.
Catch lights in the eyes.

This was a dead serious attempt at portraiture from all I have learned here.

This is my daughter and her baby boy. I shot this last week. I started in lightroom 4. Yes, lightroom 4 and then removed some blemishes and cropped it in cs5.

How did I do?

Beautiful! Wonderful connection between the two, skin tones are very realistic, all important sharp eyes, cropping is always in the eye of the beholder but certainly well within anyones idea of appropriate here, nice soft light on the post in the background, just beautiful. Congrats to the family.

Fantastic expressions and lighting, just a little tight crop IMHO.
Surely a wall hanger !
Fun photo to look at.

Two things (and I know zip about portrait photography): There's something on the wall behind your daughter's head sticking up at a 45 degree angle. You should clone that out. And the light seems a bit too bright on her cheek down to her chin. That may be the result of uploading to UHH.
