The bean bag gives much more flexibility for aiming the camera. If it is setting on the tripod collar lens foot (as your lens is on the monopod) there is no interference from the bag for zoom and/or focus. In fact, the focus ring on the lens does not move when focusing using autofocus (at least that is so for my Canon lenses). Raising or lowering the window adjusts the camera to eye level faster than changing the length of the monopod. Most of the folks I know who do wildlife photography from the car use the bean bag. In many places, the car is a pretty good blind because many of the subjects are used to cars. Open the door and they are gone.

I don't know about your windows, but my windows move around slightly - even when turned off. Also, I value my widow operation very highly and do not want to jeopordize their continued operation by putting 6-10 lbs of weight on them and paying or doing a repair job on them.

Especially with the better Canon lenses - if you touch the focus in any way - you change the focus. IF you actually keep the lense's tripod collar foot on the supprt and separation from the lens - all is OK.
My carpod adjusts from the top - as fast as the window - or faster !

You really have to experience using a carpod to appreciate it's use. You of course need a QR system and tilt head as mine does.

Perhaps I've not been into photography long enough, but when I read "Car Window Mount" I thought of the trays that the car hops used to bring the food to your car on. Then there was the place that would bring beer and mixed drinks along with food.

khm105, Those were the days! Nothing like cruizin' to the drive-in for a "dog n suds."

I also like a heavy pile towel doubled up and draped on the drivers window. Works like a charm with SigZilla and my D610. Haven't had much of a chance for anything lately with the weather here in Chicago.

Has any one used one? If so is there a recommendation? I have a Bushnel 78 44 07. It is OK, but could be improved.

I got one from Amazon based upon the reviews. It was not expensive, and it worked flawlessly.
