Nikon13, I started using an iMac about 4 years ago. I never looked back. Think how long it took you to become proficient at a windoze (that is how I spell it) computer. It will not take nearly as long to be comfortable with your mac. There is one guy on here that thinks his windoze is so great that mac users should just throw their stuff away and go back to the dark days of windoze. Ignore him. Listen to all the happy mac users out there, watch the tutorials, read the stuff that came with your computer. I also signed up for the classes at the Apple Store. They were great! In no time I was making DVD's from my camcorder, editing photos, surfing the web, whatever I wanted to do with no trouble and no windoze issues! You will soon learn to love your new mac. You'll also find that your mac screen is more than likely calibrated perfectly. If you have any doubts, take it to the store and let them verify it for you. It is new, therefore under warranty!!!
As for Elements 10, I am learning it too. If you have learned Photoshop, this one is easy. If not, watch all the youtube tutorials on Elements. Read a book called 'The Missing Manual". You WILL learn. Most important, IGNORE anyone who dares to discourage you.

I had trouble attaching a picture file yesterday too. I wrote about a troubling day I had yesterday and then tried to load 3 images. I tried and tried but it wouldn't work. So it's probably not you, it's the UHH site that is giving you fits. After trying several times, I went ahead and posted just the text and then tried to add the attachments to my post. It still didn't work, and I know what I'm doing and have done it many times. So I went to the Photo Gallery and tried to load one of the same images to see if it would load there. I wanted to see if I had something messed up with my images preventing it from loading. It loaded fine. So I went back to this section and added the photos to the original post and then it worked. I think what happened is that I was going to load an image and changed my mind and hit cancel. Then I edited my text and then tried to attach the images. Canceling the original attachment did something to cause UHH site to glitch. Try loading one pic to the Photo Gallery then come back here and load one.

Have you checked for updates to Aperture 3? One came out about a week ago, it might help that.

I did the same thing, Nikon! I had to go to the classes to learn ANYTHING! I had to lug my IMac 27 to the classroom, set it up for a 45 minute session (suppose to be an hour). Trouble is, the classroom was also a store, which was so busy, you couldn't hear what the instructor was saying and so much distraction, I couldn't focus. I finally gave up and am fumbling through all by myself. That way I don't get a hernia carrying this thing around! LOL

Just before the first of the year, I purchased an i Mac too. I do mostly photos and had heard so much about how great a Mac was, so I took the plunge. I bought the big one 27" desktop and a their three TB Time Capsule.

I am not very smart in most ways, but when it comes to computers I am pretty much illerate. So its been a very difficult change for me.

As far as i Photo, I think is sucks. I can't beleive they can make it so difficult to open a photo in a different program. I have gone to a couple of classes they have and just walk away shaking my head that i Photo is so basic and hard to transfer photos.

With that said I purchased Elements 10 and it works great once I can get the photos into it. But from i photo to Elements is not an easy or convenient process.

I got so frustrated with i Photo that I also purchased Aperture and find it much easier to work with. But I still like Photoshop much better and Elements 10 works very great on my new Mac.

There is a learning curve going from a PC to a Mac and I am slow to pick up on stuff like that, so its been a real chore for me.

But slowly I am learning even though I have a long ways to go.

Here's a photo I did just this morning, in E10 to post on another site I frequent often. Once I find the photo its easy to do in Elements.

I would not be afraid to purchase Elements and let the help walk you through it. It works very well.

Just give yourself some time to get acquainted with your Mac. If you bought it at an Apple store you can take classes on any issue and can go to the Genius Bar for help. When I used a PC there was no place to go for help. You will love your Mac.

I switched to Mac's 6 yrs. ago - loved it for art, photo images. Love iphoto for ease of use. Hate iphoto for the way it chronicles photos - I learned to live with that. IMO,The bene's of Mac 's for artists far outweigh the learning curve.
