I have the 80-200 f/2.8 for sports photography. I would like options as to moving up to the 70-200 would be a better option or keep what I have. I am not sure how much heavier the 70-200 is. I am using Nikon 7100 and would eventually move up to a full frame camera. Thanks to all.
I'd keep what you have as long as it is meeting your needs. Not much improvement optically. The newer 70-200 will focus faster & have VR, but VR help with your movement, not your subjects. Then you have the cost to consider...I opted for the 2 ring 80-200 F2.8 myself when I was deciding... (I shoot with a D7100 myself)
Skane, Google Nikon 80-200 vs 70-200 for some excellent side by side reviews. The 70-200 is newer and has several features that the 80-200 does not have such as VR but the 80-200 is a very good lens. ;)

When I saw your title, I was going to suggest the 80-200mm, which will probably be my next lens.
Good comparison -
