so what lenses is the adapter good for? any of the high end lenses?--would it work with the 70-200 4l and the 100mm macro 2.8? How about a Tamron lens made for Canon bodies?

The adapter I bought is for Canon EOS lenses. If it's a Tamron that fits a Canon body it should work on the adapter. Actually you can get an adapter for quite a variety of lenses. Just need the appropriate one for the lens you want to use. Mine does not auto focus but that's really not a problem. Those that do are more expensive.

I own it and love it. I bought the 18-200mm (27-300) Sony lens, Check out GaryFong.com/SonyA6000 Video review. You will be amazed at what this camera can do.

I purchased one several months ago and couldn't be happier. Great price, instantaneous autofocus, 24.3 mp's small and lightweight. I teamed it with my Tamron
18 - 200 zoom and it goes with me everywhere I go. It's just like my Honda Fit, does almost everything, is snappy and is easy and fun to use.
My Nikons (700 and 7000 ), as well as my Canon 60D and Sony A57 don't see much action these days.
The A6000 takes great photos with lightning autofocus and at 11 fps, gives me a lot of latitude in planning shots and capturing action moments of my grandchildren as well as sports action. Love it !

I own it, love it. Sold my D810.
Gary Friedman's manual is excellent.
Sony lenses are more than adequate althouh limited in choice.
The speed of the auto focus will amaze you!
11 frames per second has helped me catch action shots that I routinely missed with other cameras.
The menu is different than the Nikon set up but works as well.
The only down side, video. The record button is difficult to access and no external mic, unfortunately limits sound to mono and it does pick up all sounds since there is no directional control.
Also, if you use a trigger or on camera flash that are not Sony you need to file or sand off the black paint Sony used for cosmetic purposes on the internal portion of the hot shoe.
No camera is perfect but this one for its focusing speed, size and weight and most importantly IQ makes it a winner in mho.

Whilst there is an (expensive) adapter which enables all the usual features of the Canon lenses, you may be disappointed with the AF function which is limited to rather slow CDAF; other than that the lenses will work Ok.

Okay. I can only add that I wanted a day to day carrying camera because my D90 was "feeling" heavier and heavier in my backpack. The a6000 is truly excellent. I am not using my 90 very often while I am a novice, I cannot be happier. Only limitation is battery which means I have to think about checking more often. Buy. Buy. Buy. You will be pleased.

Love mine! I haven't purchased the adapter for my Nikon lenses but that's on my wish list.

If you are interested I will sell you mine. I love the camera and have the 18-200 f 3.5-5.6 Sony lens made for the Nex series along with the 16-50mm lens with a Gariz dark brown leather half case. Asking $900 for all that. Have not used the camera very much. No more than 500 actuations, in mint condition having put a screen protector on. I'm only selling it because I have taken an iPhone photography course and have been using that finding that with my busy work schedule the Sony is just sitting around, being just big enough that I can't take it with me all the time where I do my iPhone. If interested I can send photos. The 16-50 lbs was purchased separately from the body having come from a separated from a dealer back east but in brand new never been used condition. Gary Fong in YouTube has some amazing videos as to the capabilities of this camera.

Depending on the adapter you get, you should be able to use almost any lens you want albeit you'll probably be working with manual focus and aperature priority or manual settings. I have the NEX-6 which uses the same lens mount, I have adapters for Nikon, Exakta (Zeiss), Minolta MC/MD, Sony Auto, Leica and M42 screw mount lens. Pretty much every lens that I have I've been able to adapt to the NEX-6. Did I have to do this to enjoy the system...No. Am I enjoying having access to almost every lens that was ever been made? H3## yes! It is priceless! I'm just trying to decide whether I'm getting the A6000 or the A7R next.

Boardmanrd55,
Just to let you know you can buy the same setup you are selling on Amazon for $846. Plus you get a warranty.

I've been selling my Canon stuff for about 9 months and it is hard to sell. I have a body and two lenses left and am at the point of seeing what I can get for them as a trade. To sell your package, you're probably going to have to drop the price $150 +/- unless you get lucky.

Good luck.

You are probably right. I've sold things on eBay and know all to well. That being said the 18-200 mm lens is more expensive than the 16-50mm lens with wider reach. I have to have a starting point. Will consider reasonable offers.

Reasonable offers are very subjective. I was offered $300 by a UHH member for my pristine condition Canon 100-400. They thought that was reasonable.
