Luckily I have yet to run into any problems. However, I was once ask why I was taking photos of a church steeple. I simply replied I was writing a book on churches and that was the end of that. :)

Ah ha !! Theres the magic word - Probably !

Legally speaking, I highly doubt that all of those "leagalize rules" would hold a cup of water... Just because someone put those "rights" on paper, that does not create any laws what so ever....

To make the "Photographers Right" legal, it would have to be either a "Fed" law , or the same wordage law passed by every state in the union.....
" Although the information on the card is pro... (show quote)

That was done a couple hundred plus years ago. It is called the First Amendment.

Nice thought - - we have a saying - - it takes 100 ataboys to undo ONE 'Oh S---'. It's the latter you remember. I have NEVER had a pleasant encounter with a cop. You figure the rest.

Officer, I am on public land and this little card about photographers rights is right beside my concealed weapon permit.
Sarge: I've got your six on this, but the attitude would get you jacked up and slapped in the hoosegow faster than you can spit. You'd also probably lose your CCW. Concealed means concealed - and if you print, even unintentionally - SOME yahoo badge is just waiting to take you in.
.
Remember - - THEY have ALL of your TAX $$$ funding their actions. Sometimes it's better to run away and live to fight another day.

I had to have some legal work done and was chatting with the atty. I don't remember exactly what but I made the statement they cant do that. The atty replied " let me explain I got a call from a client asking me to get him out of jail in a tiny town for jaywalking. I replied they can't put you in jail for jaywalking. His reply was you weren't paying attention I am in jail for jaywalking can you come and get me"

the moral of the story is simple what the law says and what the law does is not always what happens sometimes.

plus you must remember we are post 911 and people are scared and scared people do strange things including violating any rights you have so they may feel safe.

I understand NH doesn't require a permit to carry. There are 25 other states considering the same legislation. You buy it, you carry it. I'd rather not have a cop confront me while I have a gun on my hip. "Shoot first, ask questions later," comes to mind. It would be his word against that of his dead victim.

Don't need a permit in Arizona anymore .. stupidest legislation passed to date ...

Yeah its always pretty dumb idea to reinforce the rights of the citizenry, lined out in the constitution.

It's not really anything to do with the right to bear arms.
We are right on the border of Mexico here ... when you had to have a permit to have a gun ... it seemed safer ... probably wasn't .. but now anybody can walk right up and buy one ... no background check ... no permit to carry.... I am not anti guns ... but this scares the hell out of me.

Sorry george .. didn't mean to hijack your thread :)

I like the idea of a carry card, but what laws protect me? Shouldn't you list them? This looks more like a Boy Scout Pledge Card than something I can take with me to a court of law. So what are the laws? (I'm new so if I missed them please point me to the correct post)

It is illegal to take pictures of federal buildings and military bases.

In some states it is illegal to take picture of police doing their jobs. In Illinios it is a first degree felony to tape, take movies or photograph police doing their jobs;punishable up to fifteen years in prison.

In some states you have to have written permission from parents or gardians to take pictures of minors in public areas.

Know what your local laws are. Email your state Attoney General an find out what restricktions there are if any. Also local ordinaces can cause you major head aches.
