Nikon D3100, 35mm Prime 18-55 Zoom and 55-300 Zoom. Wish I could afford Tamron 150-600 Zoom.

I think a part of why I have so many is the insulting offer they make when you suggest you might want to trade in your lens on a new one.

I end up just buying the new lens and keeping the old one instead of letting it go at 10% of what I paid for it.

A better question might have been - how many lenses do you regularly use. In that case the answer would have be 3.

- Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8
- Tamron 28-35mm f/2.8
- Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8

Second comment as I see age is becoming a factor in this thread. At 80 I'm not wandering hill and dale any longer in search of that special landscape image;- I'm looking into enhancing the Macro capability of my Oly EM1- and Leica gear

You can only use one lens at a time, but if you play your cards right, there will be a great many different times & different circumstances that require different camera bodies & different lenses. Bab

Two cameras, both Nikons. A D750 and a D7100. 6 lenses for the full frame, two lenses for the 7100. A single SB700 flash. 4 tripods. And a pocket camera...a Nikon p7800. Also have one of those waterproof pocket cameras. Never enough.

No, one can never have “enough” lenses, but in my opinion, what you have would likely be enough for ME!

I believe that one cannot ever have enough ammo.

Today I figured it would be a good day to make a list of my camera gear. I have a lot of this stuff and do not always remember what I have. And for insurance it is also good to have a list with some basic info and serial numbers.

So I started with my lenses. And I am already at lens number 45 in my collection and about half way through. Will be interesting to see on which side of 100 lenses I will stop counting.

Is this typical for you folks here on UHH, to have that much of camera gear?

An interesting point, but when do lenses become ammo? When you put them down the barrel of a cannon and fire it? :)

That's what I always thought......this should be plenty. But it seems as though there is always "just one more" that I 'need'. And there is always the desire to replace what I have with something new. That's why I have a D750 even though my D610 was fine. That's why I'm looking at a Tamron 150-600 even though my Sigma 150-500 is fine. It's only money, right?

4

50% 28-300 Good lens for casual use
20% 24-70 Excellent lens for close quarters
20% 70-200 Excellent lens for moderate distances
10% 105 Micro Excellent lens for closeup and macro work

The rest of my lenses are the result of GAS (but they do get used occasionally).

The standard definition of "enough" is "just a few more"
