went on B&H web site and also canon web site to preorder the new 5Ds was not able to preorder it, does that mean they have pulled it and are having some problems with it.
I could order their new Rebels but not this one.

You usually can preorder it before it comes out, I have done this with my 7D MKII before it came out, by the way I love that 7D

Perhaps they knew you were a Nikon user and are only allowing Canon shooters to order first!!!!!

If your serious you can preorder at Henrys.com in Canada

I was a little surprised at you jumping to their having problems.

My guess would be that when you preordered your 7DII it was much closer to the actual release date. Same is probably true with the new Rebels.

No, they have not pulled it. It is simply too early. Canon says they will start shipping in June, 2015. I would check back in April. Maybe then you can preorder.

Hi, what lens do you use on your new 7d for birding? And is heavy to handhold? Thanks, David

Welcome to the Hog! If you click "Quote Reply" then we will know who you are responding to. I know your question was not directed towards me, but to the OP, but I will put in my 2 cents worth anyway. I have a 7DII that I have just started using for birding & wildlife. The lens I use is the EF 100-400mm L II. To me, it's not heavy but I can't say that everyone would feel that way. Combined weight is about 5.5 lbs.

Thank you, that's the exact combo I've been thinking about

Spent 3 hrs at Phoenix zoo yesterday w 7d and 100-400 L II and tripod. Hot day but rig was not burdensome. Lens was a dream to use.

It is a sweet piece of glass! So far I've used it mostly on my 6D, with excellent results. Indications so far are that I will have to micro-focus it for my 7DII.
