Oh to live in a place like that! Why is it that the grass is always greener.... These are beautiful, Geoff, and I do love the skating geese. :-)

Gorgeous color and I'm a big fan of castles. I'm thinking of traveling to Europe for a vacation and photograph castles in particular, but I guess I'm afraid of what's going on with ISIS in every corner. Is it just the U.S. media or are you really having to be cautious over the pond?
Outstanding photos, Geoff! Wonderful clarity and compositon! I love #4 with the Canada geese standing on one foot on the ice! :)
Beautiful place, very nicely done
Thanks very much RP, Trust me Its safe here, Please do NOT believe all you read in the press, I would liken it to a Brit fearing a visit to the States because the gun laws and shootings over there, which are headlined across the world, and while they are shocking you would tell me its not a fact of everyday life.
I have no hesitation going to France or any other country in Northern Europe, but I personally would stay away form the middle east.
A good tip for you or anyone likely to visit the UK and want to see castles and stately homes I recommend you join the National Trust of the National Trust for Scotland, they have hundreds of buildings and interesting historic places, and either membership will get you into all of them in the UK free of charge, including parking. Most have very good catering facilities and gift shops and the garden are with a visit on there own, we find we can usually do 2 or 3 in a day when we are away.
The membership cost is about £70 to £100 PA for a couple, but when you consider that entry to these placed for non members is anything from £8 to £15 EACH it will be recovered by visiting 2 or 3 sites.
Thanks again for your feedback, it very much appreciated,
Geoff

Thank a lot for your feedback Vicki, I guess we all suffer from the green grass syndrome, but having said that as much as I love to visit Canada or the States and always sad to leave I really do miss the depth of history and the buildings here, and am always pleased to get back to our old ruins and the convenience of having them of our doorstep, including France and the rest of Europe, for instance Belgium is only about 3 hours from my home and Paris about four hours away.
Thanks again Vicki, its much appreciated.
