How do I improve the clarity. When I enlarge the photos, they get digital appearance.
Fairly good.
Can't get the ring in focus.

The picture with the ring has only about an 8x6 pixel dimension for the ring. It can't begin to appear to be "in focus" with only 8 pixels across.
As Robert Capa supposedly said, "If your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough." Moving closer physically works, but changes the perspective. Using a longer focal length lens with a narrower field of view will keep the same perspective.
And despite what many want to claim, you can also use a higher megapixel camera.
Tell us more...Like what camera do you have, what were your settings, auto? manual, aperture, iso...

I have a Nikon D5000 with a Nikkor 18-200 mm VR.
I usually use the auto mode since I am just learning about it.
Ok, As for the digital appearance, check you camera settings to see what quality JPG you are saving. You may be on the lowest quality, make sure it is set to the best quality.
As for the ring in focus, a couple of things. Where were you focusing the camera on, her eyes or the ring? f-stop controls how deep your focus will be from the point of focus. F-stop...f2.8 less depth of focus....f22 large depth of focus. If you want the ring in focus you need to focus on the ring.
Try moving to aperture mode, and start with f5.6, then experiment with different f-stops.

Using menu, set Quality to "Fine" and increase "Image Size" to "large".
These are the menu items for my Nikon D7000, so should be same for D5000.
Thanks, I just did it. Going to see how it does.
Let us know how you make out.
