Taken at Victoria Islands Channel, BC, October 2014. These are 2 male killer whales without a pod in pursuit of a meal. Taken from a Zodiac boat 50/60 yards away.

Had to look up what a pod was ......
Maybe this is just a two man pod ??!!
Nice action picture as opposed to people hugging these big guys
......they are called killer whales for a reason......you wouldn't want one to mistake you for a seal !!!

Thrilling and unsettling as well. At one juncture they turned towards us as we tracked them, dived/disappeared, and surfaced on the other side as we were moving at a very fast pace. Together, and individually, they were many times bigger than our Zodiac and are truly impressive beasts!

Wow, I have only whales in Hawaii while enroute to our snorkeling destination and once on a trip to Alaska, they close to our boat but nowhere near this close!
What a fantastic capture, Shrink! Very good photo!
