It's not easy focusing on flying birds. Well done.

Your photo nicely shows the powerful lift from that great wingspan. Maybe a cropping to get more bird at a closer range would show this and enhance the shot.

Thank you, snapitup! Here's a crop I tried, what do you think? I don't want to lose too much clarity, the bird was quite a ways away.

Really great shot!!! You made that lens shine!!! I'll use it's little brother, the Tamron 200-500 tomorrow morning on some burrowing owls. You are an inspiration!!! Thanks!!!

Hey Sleepy, great job! I'm learning that lens on my Canon body as well. I think you're doing extremely well. That's a really nice shot!

Do you find with the stabilization the lens "jumps" in the viewfinder? It kind of "jerks" in it's final adjustment. Part of the learning process, but it freaks me out every time.

Thanks, Fullframe! I have noticed that a little. I'm learning to be a little more patient with it as it does its job. Actually I'm pleased with its performance in low light like this.

They are a beautiful bird, especially in flight.

Well, the cold front made it through! The winds tomorrow will be cold and blowing at 20 mph with gusts to 30! Makes me feel like I'm back working in the Texaco station on Dodds Avenue back in the winter of '76!!!
