Call out to members from Yorkshire.
Four Yorkshire born sisters. Two grew up in Mirfield, W Yorks and two born in Mifield but came of age near Thirsk, N Yorks. Three of us now live in the USA. We are planning a trip "home" in September and will spend two weeks in Yorkshire, revisiting the places and memories of our youth.
If you had to name some "must see/must photograph" spots in Yorkshire, what and where would they be?

My mother lived in Sinderby so have done a lot of the area around Thirsk... up Sutton Bank and on from there.... I am hoping someone will say....YOU have to go HERE! I am trying to think of all the landmarks that I have never been to... It's amazing that although I haven't lived there since 1967 I still remember so many wonderful spots and on all my trips home I always made it a point to go to different areas BUT I know I have missed some...
I have even visited your area :-D

SS I love you sense of humor! !!!!. It might be to hard for the British to go to N York after the fact, and they did burnt it to ground over 2 hundred years ago. Just kidding folks it was my ancestors that did that burning. All's for given.

My wife and I are Yorkshire born and bred. We live about five miles from Mirfield. Places to visit depend on your interests. For example are you interested in scenery for landscape photography. Churches, Cathedrals, Castles for architectural and historic photography. Seascapes and seaside places. Birds and bird photography. Our just general tourism taking in shopping, eating and drinking. If you are interested in any ,or all of these things then God's own county, as we natives call it is the place for you. Did you know that Patrick Stewart, Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek was born and raised in Mirfield, Robin Hood of medieval legend is buried nearby, Charlotte Bronte was a teacher at a school in Mirfield. Some of the finest beer ever brewed can be found in many of the pubs in Mirfield. About four miles away is thee small township if Birstall where Joseph Priestly the discoverer of Oxygen was born,. ( He is buried in Northumberland county, Pennsylvania)
I could go on but enough is enough. Just come, enjoy yourselves among some of the friendliest folk in the world.
