I'm the neighborhood grandpa to lots of kids in the area, a position that I absolutely love! This past summer, I went out to check the mail and noticed these little girls sprawled out in the street, so naturally, I had to grab my camera and document the happenings. As it turned out, there was a grasshopper in the road that had captured their attention. So, these were the photos I printed and presented to them in honor of the occasion. Such a lovely group of children. Sometimes, life presents these gems to an old man that absolutely makes every breath worth taking. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.... and do.
Dewman, great capture, enjoy your title..

Lovely story and lovely photos.I'm sure the children would love them.
too sweet!
Thanks, Denise. One of the little girls, Lila (back, right) asked for a copy for her grandmother, so I printed them off and gave one to each.

My Mother's name was Lila, an unusual name that I'm hearing more often lately.
Lila bears quite a story. She seems to be a very lonely soul and often comes by and knocks on my door just to say hello. She lives with her widowed grandmother and I sense that she is a very troubled, sad child. I have such compassion for young, vulnerable children such as this, but as much as I'd love to invite her in for milk and cookies and some human compassion, in today's world, it just isn't the thing for a single man to do. Sadly, such is the world we live in. But, I try my best to be the friendly little old man down the street and I relish the neighborhood grandfatherly role I play to no end! :-) It is worth more than diamonds and gold.

Love the pictures. It brings back some good memories. We didn't have many girls in our neighborhood but I had 2 boys and there were a lot of other boys around the same ages. They seemed to always be at our house. If inside the den was full. If it was summer they were in the pool. I miss those days and there aren't any children in the neighborhood we live in now. There are a lot of OLD people.
Thanks for your comments, Kathy. It's so fun to reminisce.

I love them, kids make great subjects, God bless them.
Thanks for looking, Walter. I couldn't agree more with your statement. I have four adopted children of my own, two of which are grown with their own families now. They all are the loves of my life.
