Ray, I gave up a long time ago trying to email photos around. Most of the ISPs reduce the size of your photos just to improve bandwidth on their mail servers and the end result is, most times, unacceptable.

I opted to get a DropBox account. It's free up to 2GB (I think) and you can set your photos out there, then email a link to the folks you want to share them with.

Just an idea.

Are you trying to send RAW or jpeg files? There is a good chance gmail is limiting you. Re-send and use jpegs. GL

Emailing from iPhoto is a pain. The program wants to put your picture into some kind of slick format. Best to try Drop Box as has been suggested earlier.

I drag the photo (from iPhoto) onto my desktop. From there, I just drag it into my email. There's several easy ways to reduce the size if you have to. Easy enough so maybe I'm not understanding the question.

I never had a problem until two weeks age, iPhoto would not send any photo. I called Apple support and they walked me through the problem, come to find out I had changed my email password. If you have Apple support give them a call, even if you don't, give them a call, you can't go wrong.

I have had problems.

1) Turn off iPhoto and restart and it should work when you open iPhoto again.

2) Turn off iPhoto and restart your pc and then reopen iPhoto

I avoid emailing photos direct from IPHoto. Instead, I open up email (the one that comes with the Mac computer), start an email message and then click and drag a photo direct from IPhoto to the body of the email message. Works for me.

A few weeks ago I, too, had problems sending a photo to gmail from iPhoto. I ended up putting the photo into a folder in documents and attaching the the photo in gmail from the folder in my documents.

The only problem I had with iPhoto is after I changed the password on my email and iPhoto can't connect to my email because I failed to update that info in iPhoto. I think iPhoto does a great job sending photos, you control what size you want the photos to be and the format. There can be issues with different ISP's on the receiving end but that's not iPhoto's fault.

Bruce - your suggestion seems like a good solution. How do I go about putting pictures into my DropBox account? If I send a link to a friend, does he/she have access to all my photos, or can I limit them to certain pics?

You limit them by sending a link (sharing) only the photo's you want.
I have folders I share with the DIL and her family, the Daughter and her family, and other folders.
But generally, I use the links to display a picture stored there in my DB account.
Take a look at Dropbox:
http://www.dropbox.com/

It is geared around storing documents, but does pictures as well.
