If I want the best camera to put in my shirt pocket, what should it be? It's not a budget question, just a best quality question.

SONY CYBER-SHOT DSC-RX100 III $778

Highest rated, outstanding specs.

If I was looking to replace my Panasonic DMC ZS6 I would aim lower (on a budget)
PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-TZ60 $260 my budget choice
or
PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-LF1 $368 next choice, actually #2 to the RX100 in the ratings.

I saw the best walk around camera when I visited San Diego Zoo last week:

Well, he IS walking around!

My vote as well for a pocketable camera.
I've used one of the previous versions and it was almost there.
Now with the pop-up eye-level electronic viewfinder, it clinches it for me.

28-100mm (equivalent) lens is more then enough for most things.

That's probably what I'd go for too if I was in the market for such. Of course one could always spend a couple hundred more for a fancy-schmancy version of the same camera - the Sony rx100iii re-branded as a Hasselblad:

So right. But can't fit in his pocket. Second thought?

I'd go with an Olympus Stylus or Tough P&S or one of their compact cameras. Those are definitely pocketable and produce great pics.

If you already have a camera can I suggest just a new pocket on your shirt may be the answer here. Im sure the gal in your life can sew therefore I would suggest buying a metre of corduroy in a nice biege colour as that matches most things and just attaching a new custom built pocket in a convenient place. Maybe the tummy like a roo pouch?
This way you save a fortune!!
Way to go bro!!!

I use a Pansonic TZ40, it goes in my shirt pocket and produces excellent photographs. There is a later model available now it's now upto TZ60.

Sony rx100. Check it out. I have the second generation without view finder that zooms to 105. The newest model has a view finder but only zooms to 90, I think. I bought a separate view finder that I also use on my RX 1R. Sony makes a great walk around camera.
