Until 800 tonight on espn, special on the 4 photographers who have shot every super bowl. Started at 700 EST.

and on the same day, Sports Illustrated announced that they're laying off the final six photographers they had on staff . . .

I had the honor of shooting just one Super Bowl. It was S.B. XV which doesn't seem so long ago. I had a credential that was good anyplace in the stadium (New Orleans Superdome). What a blast that was. I still have the plaque issued by Canon signifying me as an accredited photographer. Nifty memento. I wasn't with a newspaper or magazine but I had set Canon up as Official Camera of the Super Bowl and "Photographic Consultant to the NFL". The big majority of photographers on the sidelines back then were Nikon shooters. I got some good shots and still have the F1 that Canon had given me.

And Gettyimages wins again. SI has always been a picture book with occasional investigative reporting complete with a cover jinx. Shows you how little those at Time understand where they came from. Now they can become the National Enquirer of sports. They don't understand what good will ambasadors their photographers were but they will find out. bye bye SI I have purchased my last issue.

I remember getting to shoot a game at AT&T in SF last summer (because of local kid Andrew Susac), then seeing this Sports Illustrated cover shot from the exact place I had been.
