I need help deciding between a Canon 5d Mark II and the Canon Mark III. I would like to have 2nd body to go along with my 70d. I am still very novice but seriously loving my new found hobby!

Welcome to UHH.
Either camera is great. I love my Canon 5D mark lll and if I lost it somehow I would buy another.

Do you have some full-frame lenses? If you bought EF-S lenses for your 70D, you will have to buy EF lenses for a Mark II or Mark III, or any other full-frame camera. I have a Mark II, and it does everything I want or need. I considered the Mark III, but it had many features which I would never use, so I decided to buy the less expensive Mark II. If you can use most or all of the features of the Mark III, you might decide that it's worth the price.

Get them both! Now, seriously, what do YOU want to do with this extra body. That should be the determining factor. Do you realize the differences between the two? They both take great photographs. One (if you can find one in good condition) costs 1/2 the price of the other. Buy the MkIII and you will put the 70D away. The MkII gives fantastic stills and great video.

Flip a coin
