I'd be very interested to know if you think this is presentable. I used a mask layer in PS and then added the sepia. If you think this is not very good, then I'd be interested to hear that as well.
Looks a bit too dark for my taste. Maybe add a bit of contrast?

It looks darn good Erich. The sepia tone is tastefully done and looks very natural with your subject matter.
Excellent Erich, your comp and tone are perfect.

Thank you for the input. I was wondering about that. I did not want the notes to take center stage; but I may have kept them a bit too obscure. Thanks. Good information.

Thank you. I like the sepia. I also liked the table and it was quite a chore getting my wife to allow me to "play" with her inlaid antique table. My standard glass coffee table with a sheet over it would not have been the trick for this shot. I do appreciate the input and I'm glad you liked it.

Thank you so much for the endorsement. I do appreciate you taking a look.
Just one of those personal preference things: for me, the decorative details of the table distract from the message of the music theme.

I agree, I would cut off the front of the table, the lowest 20% of the picture. Focus on the instrument.

Needs more contrast. But otherwise I love it.

That is an interesting response. I really had not thought of that before. I do understand where you are coming from. I can see where the fiddly bits could detract from the subject. Thank you for your input. I will certainly give that some serious consideration.

Ok, that is information that I was looking for thank you. Not sure I agree; but it is good to hear opinions. Thank you.

I'm planning on printing this, so I will have to add some contrast before I do. Thank you. I do agree with you.

Loc: left coast of the east coast
good separation from the background... i think the lighting is flat though, no drama.

My thoughts - crop closer, show only top of stand - move book to 45 degree to left corner and allow 1" of table to left of book - align Mandolin with book aprox - place sheet music under Mandolin with a few notes showing - keep BG
These items could be arranged and lighted in so many ways all would be great. There is an Old Masters painting ( do not know name or Artist) with a Mandolin that since you have one it would be interesting to duplicate.
