Great photos! Contrary to popular belief, they don't shoot quills. The quills stick and stay if you touch them.
I surprised a big one in Canada and it just slowly walked off. I had to grab my dog and keep her from checking it out. Thankfully no one was hurt.

See them out in the daylight quite frequently here in north central Pa, little buggers really raising hob with our old outhouse on our old farm, they are real wood chewrs.
Good job, I have never seen one so really appreciate your shots.
How exciting to be able to see one and be able to photograph it as well. You don't see too many photos of them. Wonderful shots!!!
Wow, lucky you. I haven't seen one since I was a kid.....I'm 68.
Nice job and thanks for sharing. My wife and I did some camping this past summer in your neck of the woods to see Redwood National and ate at several places in your city.
Had a very nice time.
Interesting shots, I didn't know porcupines are around your area, got to be rate to see one. I saw these a lot in Northern Ontario Canada.

I really like those guys. They are so peaceful.
Very nice series. I was with my daughters behind my shop one day when we came across one of these. It was more of a golden/brown. It was huge! I did not think they got that big. It was fun to watch. No camera at the time : (
Did he "talk" to you? They have very interesting voices.
