Shakey Loc: Traveling again to Norway and other places.

When walking the streets of Venice it's hard to avoid the crowds and it makes photography almost impossible. I strolled the alleyways, which are much quieter and stumbled upon this scene - a quieter moment. Have at it as you will. (Bye the way, if you are ever in Venice aim to shoot your scenes just after dawn. The visitors are still in bed and the streets are mostly deserted.)

love the shot Shakey. Also love to edit! So thanks for the opportunity to exercise my growing creativity... I cropped out the pole on the right, found it distracting an otherwise nicely framed photo. ... And I did my typical exposure and relighting stuff. I hope that you like it!

Great work, Lloyd! Now the line of the water and boats makes you look under the bridge, with improved lighting - and then up to the crowd. Outstanding.

You had a good time, Preachy. The color version looks like HDR and works fine. The B&W is very different. Glad you like all the details. Nice job. (Don't worry about the double post - happens to us all when nothing seems to be happening on posting.)

I gave it a go with a pencil sketch, fade, shadow and little comic book effect....

Well I'll be hornswoggled, Angela. That is different and it works. Clever thinking and a nice job.

I'd have to say that "quieter" wasn't something that came out in the edit :) . But water usually has a quietening effect, so I made more of a focus of the canal.

Great shots - great insights into another place.

Lovely interpretation, R.G. The brightening (lightening?) of the underside of the bridge and your processing of the water works well. Nice job. (There was a slight reduction in the number of people pushing to get across the bridge, hence quieter :)

Good advice. However, the crowds can also lead to interesting shots. Or look at the small picture rather than the big one. Three views of Venice on one very hot August afternoon in 2013.
