LBBs Rock! Vicki---the beauty and clarity of those downloads are fantastic! Great work!!

I think if I can make sparrows interesting, eventually I'll be able to shoot almost anything. Little by little I'm learning. Thanks for your support and thoughtful comments.

Nice series Vicki... I haven't been doing any bird photography lately... I hope to get back to it soon... if only my Dogwood had leaves or blooms which makes for a better background... nothing but barren limbs on my Dogwoods now and very few birds in my Holly trees since the berries are gone...

The title is kind of a warning for those who don't like LBBs. Lacking eagles and other exotic options, these are what I have to practice on.

The light gave everything the look of spring which may give hope to those who look out on fields of white.

One of the birds seems to be missing something. See if you can tell what it is. I threw in the shot of the webs and dew for fun.

I'm always open to helpful suggestions. Have at it.

Nice work Vicki, you have produced some high quality captures of what looks to be a Golden-crowned Sparrow. I practice on sparrows also that feast on the my pampas grass seeds.

Yes, these are Golden-crowned Sparrows. I'm not sure whether they're here for the winter or just passing through, but they're plentiful. We don't see them during the summer. Thanks for stopping by and commenting RedArrow. I appreciate it.

Thank you Bruce. You get some wonderful birds in the dogwoods, and I always look forward to seeing your images. I suspect even bare limbs might set them off well. We have some pyracantha that the birds seem to like. Sometimes they get "drunk" on fermented berries and fly into windows, but that hasn't happened in a long time.

In both #1 and #2 the toe is hidden by the bud on the limb. If you look real close you can see the tip of the toenail....Rich

Nicely done. Hard to make a sparrow look beautiful, and you did!

Thanks for looking and commenting merrytexan. I was being funny about LBB. It stands for "little brown birds" and is usually used to describe something that isn't easily IDd.
