I usually use Hoya or B & W.

I have B&W in my bag for when conditions demand it (surf, wind, rain), but other than that, I shoot with bare naked lenses.

Hi Canon Fan
As mentioned HOYA & B&W. I also use my lens hood for protection too I don't care much for filters on lenses with exceptional use of a polarizer filter when it's need but not for protection.

Sexy....
But your lens could get STD's.

I use UV filters on all of my lens all the time.
I can remove the filter easier than I can remove any other Oopsies. ;)

I use Hoya, but they have several grades of filters. Get one of their better multicoated filters. Better lens protection is a lens shade (hood).

This should answer all of your questionsL:

http://www.lenstip.com/113.1-article-uv_filters_test.html

I have Heliopan, B&W, Hoya, Contax and Kenko- The Hoya MMC filters have glass that is as good as the Heliopan and B&W, but they are mounted in a plastic ring. The B&W, Heliopan and Contax are in brass rings. Save your money and get the Hoya.

I just added Hoya EVO protector filters on a couple of lenses. They have a charge that keeps dust off of them and so far they work very well. Prior to that I've used Nikon clear filters.

I use the Hoya Pro1 Clear. I paid $54 two years ago.
