Best Instruction book for Nikon D7100?

Besides the manual, which instruction book would you recommend for someone not familiar with a dslr camera? I see some have recommended David Busch, Darrell Young, "...Dummies" ??? Trying to decide. Ready to order! :)

I like Darrell Young's books. I have one for the D300 and now the D7100. With each one, I went through Young's book with the manual and the camera in hand to familiarize myself with the camera. I used a lot of Young's "presets" and then after using for awhile, reviewed again to make sure that it still fit my needs.
Having been a corporate trainer, one of the best ways to solidify knowledge is to train someone else-- so my process was this: 1- Demonstrate the procedure (I'm doing it; you are watching me do it). 2-You perform the procedure (You are doing it; I'm observing). 3- You train me on the procedure as if I am new. You'll be amazed at how effective this process is.
(If you don't have someone else; demonstrate it in front of a mirror.)

Other than books you can try Utube videos, a ton of them for the D7100. Just be brand and model specific. Nikon also has tutorials on the D7100 on their website.
Just me, but I like to see the videos and take notes as they play. Do the same for Lightroom videos.

Don, I enjoy the videos, too. I would also like something in the way of print, also

I really got a lot out of David Busch's D7100 guide (I also bought the field guide recently, just to keep in my camera bag). I read the bigger book cover to cover and kept it on the end table next to my chair for reference...until a month ago, when my bloodhound decided she needed to chew something up. Maybe the glue smelled good to her?

You seem to have hit on the top 3 choices Arlene. If you remember, after spending some time with your choice of course, please let me/us know how it went.
Having had two experiences with Nikon owner's manuals it seems safe to say that I wasn't terribly broken up when one of the dogs used the 7100 book as a chew toy and wouldn't mind the benefit of your experience.

Mike, I wish my dog had chosen the original manual to chew up instead of the David Busch book!

I too have David Busch's D7100 book and Field Guide. They are both excellent and detailed. After I read these a few times I happened to pick up John Batdorff's book "From Snapshots to Great Shots" Nikon D7100. It a small book and excellent for a quick read and reference...very easy to follow and informative.
Anyhow, thats my story and I'm sticking to it! :-D :-D
