The
federal government, which has " Tomahawk" cruise
missiles and "Apache," "Blackhawk,"
'Kiowa" and "Lakota' helicopters - and
used the code name "Geronimo" in the attack that
killed Osama bin Laden, officially objects to the name of
the Washington Redskins. Really?

Great point! Too bad the government is not held to the same standard as the tax payers.

A few years ago, I went to my brothers grave to pay respects to a man I considered a hero. He did 20 years in the Army with 3 tours of Viet Nam. When I drove up to his burial site, I noticed a pickup truck parked along side the curb that had a "license plate" looking sign in the back window on the passenger side. It read "Wind Talker". Having seen the movie, I figured I was gonna stick around and see who came to get in that truck. About 30 minutes later, here she came. An American Indian woman with her husband and I asked her about that sign. She said that it has only been recently that the American government has acknowledged the FACT that there were actually "Wind Talkers" used during WWII. It struck me as being a slap in the face because it's taken this long for our government to pass along the awards that went along with what those men did. I asked her if she had come to visit her dad. She told me, not just her dad, but his 6 brothers also who were also "Wind Talkers" during WWII.

Needless to say, I was floored. BUT, I was also honored to be shaking the daughters' hand of a Wind Talker.
