Here are a few pictures taken around the house and I was wondering what I can do to improve.
MWAC
Loc: Somewhere East Of Crazy
What camera are you using?
Your focus looks a little soft, with these types of pictures you need to make sure your focus is spot on.
Also I would drop the colour selection editing. I personally think it screams, new to photography and new to post processing.
Have to agree on the focus issue. I am also not a fan of selective coloring but if it is something you want to do then you need to color the whole subject. In on you left a lot of the flower in B&W and also part of the bird in the second photo. For now, just concentrate on your composition and focus to show immediate improvement in your work.
I agree with MWAC, but keep trying..
Not bad but MWAC was correct in her critique.
Keep shooting and posting. :)
I think #3 would be better in landscape format.

you are trying to work too closely with your lens - pull back a bit and what you lose in framing you will more than gain back from crisper images (which you can then crop).
and what ever MWACC says ditto too
Thank you, I have a Nikon 5000. (Cropping-need to watch that) I am trying to learn how to edit and do fun things with pictures. I like stuff that is different but want it to be quality as well and I don't have anyone to tell me what needs to be done so I joined here seeking help. Thanks for the info.
Thank you, I don't have alot of selection to shoot unless I travel of which I lack in time so I just get the itch to shoot and head out in the yard. I really like landscapes the best.
Thank you for commenting.
Thank you, I appreciate you taking time to comment. I will try to compose and keep an eye on the focus in the future.
