And, when I have given a gelding to someone that can't afford to purchase him, it has been a disaster. These people always claim they love the horse and they tell me he would have a "forever home." I find out later that the horse was soon sold to "the killers" for some cash.
What does this have to do with photographing a wedding... Kindness is not always appreciated instead there is a feeling of "getting over" on the one that gives of their time or money.

maybe that is so, but the 22 years of that upbringing and being an alter boy taught me that you help others. ...........NAH. Take care.
Well, being an "alter" boy must have changed your mind around a bit. Don't exactly know what an "alter" to a boy is, but I thought going into the light may have shed some light on it. Oh well, guess I will have to wait until I get on the other side of the light to find out. :-)
just reposted this again..my mistake ..i thought maggie was the one asking ..sorry..

I know what I posted above and this is sort of ANTI of that, but there is a saying, in regards to you post. "No good deed goes unpunished. LOL
Thanksgiving, Alabama, there with my family. We are in Krugers, I come back to the truck and my daughter, the nurse, seys they old black guy in the next lane needs help. Sweetest, respectful mannered guy I have ever met. Reminded me a Dave Bowman from the 2nd 2001 space Oddessy. So he sez a cop is coming to help. I give him my card and tell him if nobody shows, call me. I will come right over. He sez he has to also go back to his house to get $14.76 for the part to get his car running. I go back to my truck, get $15 and walk back and give it to him and say Merry Christmas and turn away. He starts up, 'Mr. Bob, how am I going to pay it back' I ask him how did I start my sentence off. He replies 'Merry Christmas'. I say no need to payback then, right. My daughter said as I walked away he started crying. did not want that but I am glad to make his Christmas. Just another day in my life. Take care.
In regards to my quote just above, all day I was 'waiting' for his call. It never came. Had a Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat...........at Alice's Restaurant. Da Da Da Da.

Could not determine the location. Also, what is the venue and size of the wedding?

I just went over to your website that you have in your profile and checked it out..
www.popphotography.biz ..seems to me that you're advertising professional style work yourself so why would you even think about asking for something like what you want??? if that isn't your work then why not ask the pro that took those photos?? ..i occasionally will do freelance work for people who can not afford an expensive job.. but i would not dare ask someone to do a wedding for what you are suggesting ...hmmmm..looking for something for nothing??

i just went back and re read that post..lol
yep i see now that it was a ridiculous advertisement and that maggie was just letting us see it..lol
All they need to do is ask everyone to take out their phones and click away - they'll get what they paid for.
If I had ten dollars for every time someone has suggested I work for little or nothing, adding "Think of the exposure you'll get!" - I'd have ten dollars for every time someone said such a thing. The "exposure" certainly hasn't added to my income.....
I agreed to this once (about 45 years ago). When I got there, there was no place set for me. I figured that was not the couple's fault, so I did stay and photograph the reception since I had already done the wedding.

Thank you. Canon 5D MkIII, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens @ 100mm, f8, 1/100th SS, 100 ISO, natural light, tripod mounted w/self timer. I focused on my beautiful blue eyes. As unbelievable as it may seem, absolutely no PP. Thanks for your compliment. John, my significant other just loves it.
If they want to pay my travel expenses and a room, i would consider it.

So I read the whole thread to my wife. She got up and said she was making breakfast "for wedding pictures." But I can one-up this whole matter. You see, next Saturday I'm performing a wedding (I'm a clergyman) "for food." It happens that the bride is my granddaughter. Getting there from New York to Wisconsin ain't cheap nor is the rent for motel and car. But worth every penny.
When officiating weddings, this still is true, people want your time and effort for free. Weddings usually happen on my day off, so for me to give up my time for free does not leave a good impression.
