Wife took my camera on trip to California. On way back left it in pocket on seat in front of her. Got new, better camera out of it. I took camera on brief canoe trip. Found out we're NOT good canoe handlers. Hit downed tree. Capsized. Got new, better camera out of it. Spot on sensor showed up on pictures. Afraid it was mold. Got new, better camera out of it. Turned out it was spot of oil. Now working fine. Now have TWO fine cameras. "One never knows, do one."

Thanks for the tip....sorry you had to learn it the hard way. Here's another....never put your sunglasses in the driver's seat when you get out to take a photo. I did that and sat on a nice pair of Serengetis. Fortunately, I was able to replace the arms and that fixed them.
Yep, been there done that. I now say "never put your glasses where asses can find them."
I have this for sale if you want to replace it...

Just had an expeience Christmas night I thought I'd pass on. While loading the car with gifts etc., I had my Sony RX 100 in my hand in a small camera bag. It got in the way so I set it on top of my car for a moment. When I got home across town I realized that I had left the camera on top of the car. My Grandson's comment when he found it was: "Sorry Gran'pa it's not in great shape". That turned out to be an understatement, it was in hundreds of pieces, apparently run over by a Hummer. Did salvage the SD card and some Christmas photos.
So here's the first "Don't" on my list: 1. Don't EVER put your camera on top of the car. Can anyoone add to the list?

Don't put a camera you really love in saddlebags when going trail riding in "challenging" terrain.
Thankfully it was a relatively inexpensive P & S, on a younger/greener gelding in some rougher terrain. Started down a steep hill, there was a log across the trail. Less than experienced gelding tried to jump the log, tangled his feet and we rolled down the hill. Opened the saddle bags to find confetti.
1997 - It was my last film camera. It fell to the floor in the Duomo in Milan, with the kind of a crash that I knew it was a goner. For the rest of the trip, I filled in with disposable cameras. They were pretty awful.
Do not set camera bag on ground behind car when packing the trunk. Nikkormat and lens can not support the weight of a car. Same for most DSLR's. It was early in the morning, dark out, and I hadn't had coffee.

When using a polarizing filter, always turn it in the direction as if tightening. Especially is leaning over the alligator pit in St. Augustine, Fl.
