My wife, ever on the alert for out of the ordinary books, got me a copy of "Photographer Sketchbooks" which gives some insight into the planning and thought processes of a number of working photographers--this is really cool study material. After sixty years of messing around I am becoming a serious student.

In furtherance of this endeavor, I got myself the Great Courses "Masters of Photography." And my son got me a 3-pack of 3.5x5.5 in "Field Notes" notebooks.

My son gave a Dolica TX570B150DS Tripod. It looks like it is going be great for hiking as it very light and compact. It seems support my D600 and 70-300mm lens.

Hmmm... well,
Some days you get the elevator, and some days you get the shaft;

My Girl (aka wife) has a new Manfrotto Professional Backpack 20, and there is a 14-24 (2.8) on layaway waiting for her birthday in January. She can carry her 7100 and her 5200, with telephoto lens on one body a laptop and has plenty room to add lenses as the kit grows.{Seeking to own the holy trinity between us before she graduates to a new d750}

Went to my garage to change a headlight on one of the vehicles on the 26th only to realize I had a midnight visitor: all my hand tools are gone. sockets, combo wrenches, drivers, pliers etc. etc. went to get my own camera to document the vandalism and now realize they got more than hand tools. My d800 with a 28-300 is gone right out of the bag, left a handful of filters, shutter release and an older 50 mm prime...
I feel so violated.
All day long I just keep realizing more things that are gone.
A nightmare that just keeps getting more sick.
Ugh, I should not be complaining. No one was hurt, they are just 'things' but they were personal, and took me years to accumulate, can't stop the feeling like someone sucker punched me in the belly.

My Nikon 70-200 VRII f/2.8 lens was my (early) Christmas gift. My twilight pics of outfielders when baseball season begins Feb. 13 will determine how well I like it. Happy New Year to all!
