I very rarely crop my seascapes but this one looked like it might have something going for it with a crop and I'm interested to know what you think

I like both, they each have there own "story" so to say.
First brings you to the middle with all the "lines" and the rock as a center focus.
The second has me asking what may be on the right side?

LuggerbUggs: I wasn't sure until I turned my Nook horizontally ... it really enlarged the rocky bottom ... a horizontal view really draws ones eyes from the rocky bottom to the two larger rock formations to the horizon. Definetly the second image. It also shows how shiny some of the rocks are.

Lubberbugs: I apologize...I meant the first one, of course...my bad!

Thanks Mike, that's really interesting. I agree with you about the uncropped version as I always try to ensure I have my leading lines. That's probably why I prefer it uncropped but just interested to know how others view them.

#1 is outstanding, I see no reason to crop, the foreground adds a great deal to the composition. Well done.

#2 is a very nice photograph that features an interesting rock. And that is what I look at when I view this picture.

But #1 -- WOW! It pulls me right into it and carries me into an adventure at sea. Don't know if it tells a story itself but it sure makes it easy for the viewer to create one for themselves.

The 1st pic has the greatest interest due to sky & land outcroppings - but, the uninteresting base needs to be
cropped off by at least 2" to improve the composition.

I like the first image the way it is...very nice. If I where going to crop...I'd go the other way.
