This is the worst drought in our area for more that 35 years. This used to be a constant level lake.
I welcome C & C
Did you do this dynamic range in the camera or was it an HDR shot after the fact? I like the way the boat and dock give the whole composition depth. We have the same look on Lake Travis right now. Haven't had enough water to put my bass boat in for over two years now.

All of the effects were done in Lightroom and and a bit of clean up in Photoshop. I wanted the grunge effect because that is how it feels to have the lake so low for so long.
Like the boat obviously not in use and the way the eye is then led to the very low water level in the lake.
Also not sure what HDR program was used. If its an in camera one it cannot handle skies. The large blown areas need some attention in PP. Clone or cut and paste required to fix it.
Do tat and you have a nice natural shot that tells a story.

Thanks Billy, I was looking forward to your comments on this. I was thinking of your style while PP. I made it much more gritty than the original. Changed the original look to a distressed look as is the situation. The boat does look like it hasn't been out in many years. The propeller is bent up and even has holes in it. What do you think is odd about the Brown/sand areas?
I think you will have a stronger image if you crop some of the sky - right to about the bottom edge of the blown out section in the clouds.
First, the crop will get rid of the distracting blow-out, but still retain most of the dramatic clouds within the composition.
Second, it will also increase the viewers' attention to the most important subject: the drought effected lake bed.

Could not actually see anything odd about the brown sand areas. If you have done some PP work in there you did it well. However blowing it up big to pixel peep as your request reveals that you could do with some noise reduction in the sky.
I used to work at the Lake Granbury Marina. This was such a beautiful and fun lake! When the owners put in Stumpy's Grill, business was nuts and now it is almost nonexistent. What a shame. Is is BRA greed in selling off the water?

Water is down because of drought, selling off water to fracturing companies and the big one is Possum Kingdom shutting down the power plant that let water through and on to Granbury Lake.
I've been in Dallas for 40 years. We used to have thunderstorms...I mean real wall rattlers....every spring and fall. They moved the dates of the Byron Nelson because of the rains, and the State Fair (October) was always plagued by heavy rain. We're not getting those lake filling storms anymore for some reason.
