Thank you very much.
I'll post up photos when I get it completed.
I filled the open knot with Rosewood last night and plan to turn it further today. When I get that cut finished I'll shot a few more pics and add them in.

Maybe, but I was pretty happy with these shots.
I'll take a few shots later of the bowl after I turn it some more. I filled the big hole with Rosewood last night and hope to have photos later today.

I like Pits and think they for the most part have gotten a bad rap. A lot depends on how they are brought up and yes there are some bad apples, but cats turn on their owners causing serious injuries all the time but are not vilified. My Daughter has a beautiful brindle pit that's a big goofy mush pot.

Shape is finished and adding clear sealant.
Color is starting to show really well and the big knot hole is filed. I debated that one.

Nice work from a "Master Craftsman". Have always envied those of you who are so talented and creative. I have built many things around the house (like room additions, shelves, closets, cedar chests...just to name a few) for a non-skilled want to be craftsman but nothing like that of yours. Have the desire, but at my age now, I'm sure my patience would be tested. Show us more when you have the time. Again, my hat's off to you for a job well done.

An IPhone shot of a bowl I am turning on the lathe.
All automatic settings and this is just to show another Hog what I was doing last night.
Roughly 4.5 inches across and 4.25 inches deep.
Still a work in progress but getting closer to what I see in my mind.
;o)

Thank you very much for such high praise.
I am not a spring chicken and this is the first bowl of this size that I have turned. I started turning pens just over a year ago so that I could learn all parts of a shopsmith that I bought mainly for the table saw. The owner of the wood store that I buy from is always giving me a hard time because I don't start off with easy very often and jump right into the harder turns.
I just came from there with slabs to turn larger flatter bowls with. Should be fun.

You brought out the soul in the wood. Looks professional.

Look forward to seeing more of your work. Way to go!

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Good looking "puppy"...he's a handsome young fella. Yes, pits do get a rather bad rap. When you dig much deeper, often times they are generally abused by there owners or left outside 24/7 chained to a tree. If you have the time, log onto "BEST FRIENDS.COM". This is an animal (all animals...dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, etc.) sanctuary that a veterinarian named Greg Castle founded in Kanab (I think that's how you spell it), Utah some twenty five years ago. His policy is "No Kill Animals". The pets he has taken in live on this huge acreage sanctuary until they are either adopted or pass away. There is a wonderful story told by his wife Christeen about the dogs they took in from the Michael Vick dog ring. They were all "Pit Bulls" and the story is titled "Victory". Quite remarkable how these once dangerous and vicious "ring warriors" were cured, trained and found homes. Many went to families with young children that included toddlers. Marvelous story that will change ones mind about the bad rap these "so called" bad dogs acquired. It has changed mine and do believe they are easy to train, intelligent and can provide "unconditional love".

Excellent work. Like it, keeping the soul of the tree alive.

A friend of mine does bowls, kitchen utensils, vases and other wood working. He was interested in your work. He's been at it for quite a while, retired, and your bowl is equal to his.

Thanks for the thumbs up and the compliment but if he's been doing this for any time he is surely better than I.
I am learning and I still have mistakes but that's part of the process.
