I have a D7000, extremely happy with it, especially now that all oil spot issues seem to have been resolved.

Incidentally, I haven't read any D7000 owners saying they would prefer a D7100, or D7100 owners saying they would prefer a D7000!

I wonder why that is?

I had the D7000 and bought the D7100 for the changes in the Left dial got fed up with the dial on D7000 changing modes on me and fouling up shots

Welcome to the Forum, but you will probably not get answers when posting to an unrelated conversation. That's what is referred to here as "hijacking" the thread, and most will ignore you.

Go to the top of the page, click on "Main Photography Discussion" then "Create New Topic" and ask away.

NOOOOOO.!!! With PSE-10 you have ALL you need for pp and more... I have the same as you (PSE-10) and there is nothing I need in order to correct, edit , transform, re-compose, etc..etc
that is not in the program.

Great. Now what do you think about D7000 vs D7100, which is what this thread is about?

Depends on what you want to do. PSE has more editing capability than Lightroom. BUT, Lightroom is a cataloging and organizing program first, and an editing program second. It should also work flawlessly with PSE 10.

So, since you take "lots of pictures," consider Lightroom as a catalogue and organizing program. If you use it properly, it can make it easy to find that one photo your looking for. It does have a learning curve.

If you do get Lightroom, you will discover that you will have less need for PSE but, for certain things it will still be necessary.

I have a Nikon D5100 and for me that is OK.
What I think about D7000 and D7100..? I know both are quality cameras and your choice should be based on what you really need. Are you going to use all the extra goodies of the D7100?
if so, go ahead..!

Best Buy is currently selling the D7000 with the 18-140mm lens forÂ… $629.99.

Great price? Or is it better to spend almost twice as much for the D7100, at $1199.99?

I presently have both camera's, the difference between the two are truly day and night. Don't get me wrong, the D7000 is a fine camera, but the D7100 is a whole different animal. The list is very long when checking out the differences. My thought is, if your considering both, then you have already decided that you can afford both. That being the case, the D7100 is your best move. Do your homework and I'm sure you will agree!

I have a D7000 as an upgrade from my D90 which I still have. It is a great camera and while I still consider myself an amature, (I have sold a couple of pics.) I can't imagine what more I MUST have to create great shots. Sure, I would like to know that I have a few more options to work with but I am not convinced that I would use them enough to warrant the price. I would rather sink $$ into great lenses.

I have the D7000 and have never had a problem with spots of any kind and think this camera is all I need until I decide to go FF!! I would like to see the long list and which ones are nothing but more than fancy bells and whistles!! You as the photographer will determine how well either of these cameras perform---very little will depend on the cameras. If you're willing to wait a bit Nikon comes out with a new model about every 6 months it seems!! Don't pay extra for things you don't need---that's exactly what Nikon's marketing wants you to do!! At times I find it a bit humorous how some folks on this forum will jump at any bait that Nikon, Canon or Sony etc. throw out there. If you have deep pockets with nothing better to do with your $$$ go for it...........

If your really serious about seeing the long list, then google D7000 Vrs. D7100. If your not really interested, and only assuming, then it really does not matter!

got 7100 from 42nd st photo 4 $729. Some reviews 4 this merchant are not positive but I had no issues. Camera only comes with a 30 day store warranty. I bought some additional items such as a memory card and additional battery and had them throw in a warranty

So anything out of that long list that would really matter W/O merely being bells and whistles would be 3 that I personally would be interested in are #1. more mega pixels (24), #2. removal of the anti aliasing filter which is still under debate if it's a good move or not---most folks wouldn't notice that the D7000 has it #3. a lock on the shooting dial which many think is the best thing since photography was invented.....lol!! I have 2 D7000s and have NEVER had that dial move on me!! As far as oil spots I think the poster was thinking of the D600---never heard of that problem with either of the cameras we're talking about. I have 24,000 clicks on one camera and 110,000 clicks on the other and never so much as even an error message........
