I took several photo's yesterday while driving to TN. I noticed this white Line on the back of the camera view monitor but didn't think anything about it until I got home and was viewing them on my computer, yep there it is it's still there. Not knowing what it is I decided to insert the same disk and take some mor Shoots. No line on the camera Monitor nor any line in my computor! So where is it coming from and why? I hope it's not my camera, meanig it's something to do with for instance my ISO was totally wrong for that bright Sun. Any Idea's, Thanks Robert
do you have a sample image you can post, along with the camera settings?
Could possibly be a weird lens flare or something odd about the particular area you were shooting. But more likely a dirty contact on the memory card and the contacts were cleaned when you removed and replaced the card in the camera.
Oh Crap I'm so up set I forgot.
I thought it to be some type of over exposure of some type

Well There was a red Light on in the bottom right corner of my Canon 1Ds Mark III and I was using the 70-200 f/2.8L IS Lens

Oh yea in regards to memory cards I first had an SD card in and then I switched to the Compact Disc and got the same thing
Looks like it may have something to do with the shutter fist /second curtain?
I can't believe I would get the same white line at the top with two different types of cards, I remember something about a Lines Flare. What is that again?

It's called "Banding" and what it comes down to is that of which is a problem with your sensor or processor at ISO's to high. Basically you can call canon and have it repaired or just simply keep it below the ISO used on that photo. Check your photo's information to know your ISO speed. I had a similar problem with my canon A470 and just ended up selling it for a few bucks but that's only because that camera was being used only for night shots. It was no longer any good to me and canon wouldn't warranty it out. So it comes down to what you expect to get out of the camera and what you use it for. If you google it "white lines with my canon digital slr" you'll find some similar post I'm sure. Wish you luck and happy shooting!
It shouldn't be the ISO, it was only at 250. I have no idea what it could be.

The problem with banding is eventually you'll have no choice but to send the camera in for repairs as it will continue to do this with each ISO setting until you can't use the camera any longer without this line being in place. The best way to test it is to take a few shots per ISO setting. If you see the line is in more than one ISO setting it's banding. Your best bet with your camera being the Mark III, is to send it in for repairs before it goes any farther down hill. Also, could be a manipulation issue which don't happen very often. But basically what happens is the camera tries to manipulate a brighter area and darken it to blend, also a sensor issue. Canon has had 2 minor cases of it so far and Pentax has had many (more than 10) If you review the photographs they display they are very similar some being on the sides of the photographs and bottoms even a couple being through the center at about the same with. There was only one that went about half way across and then blended in.
Dont you just hate issues like that? You may have an intermittent sensor issue; sometimes it shows up sometime not. Next time it shows up again, you should have it check. Hope it still under warranties. :?
