Wow Chrysler is taking a beating here....wtf !

I have had a few Chrysler products from 1955 Dodge Seneca. Ran for almost ever,no problems,( over 250,000mi ) Plymouth Fury- Another keeper after I resolved the Carburetor issue. Chrysler had a run of carb issues in 67.68 & 1969. They later had bigtime problems with thier transmissions on many different models. I guess I was fortunate enough to have good luck with what I owned.
I later worked on the Dodge trucks in a truck shop and prefered them to work on. Easy access and dependable slant6 and 318 engine.

After the slow Peugeot 504 diesel, I got into older model BMW 528e's. They were wonderful cars. Great handling, good performance, comfortable interiors. But they were all money pits... expensive parts, always needed something. So I would fix them up to sell and fall in love with them again. And I had two BMW 325iC's (convertibles). Even worse money pits, but absolutely delightful when they were working.

So I would fix them up to sell and fall in love with them again.

LOL. If entirely honest, I would have had the same problem.

Ford Aerostar. Constantly breaking down. I felt the only way I could recognize it was to crawl underneath and look up. Even the auto tranny gears came apart when my wife attempted to pass another car. Then there was the fuel pump, water pump, heater fan, so on, and so forth.

The worst car I ever owned was a 1984 Chrysler Laser. It was a little sport hatchback and it was a mess. I purchased it new (Sticker was 14K) and from the very first day it was a disaster. The crowning jewel of disappoint was when the windshield popped out and shattered on the wiper arms when I shut the door with the windows up on day four while picking it up from having the power steering pump replaced because it had exploded on day two.

Bought a new Nissan Maxima in 1988. Had to replace two valves at 104,000 and a sync gear at 48,000. Both were covered by Nissan. Drove the car for 340,000 miles when the started fall off the engine. Minnesota winter salt ate the aluminum block where it fastened. Had no choice but to junk it out. However the motor and transmission worked great, but it had to be pushed to start.

It's funny how things can be so different. I had an 85 Celebrity. It had an on and off again short in the dash. I never could find. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to short across the fuse socket to read the gas gauge. It had a little 4 cylinder engine. The car didn't accelerate, it just kind of gathered speed. The distributor when out on me once. Other than that it had 200,000 miles on it when I gave to a family in need. And yet, when everyone else's nice car broke down guess which car showed up for the rescue. I've even towed some pretty big cars with it.

two worse: 1st 1978 Fiat 131. It rusted everywhere. Changing the engine timing belt was way too complicated; had to train the coolant. The tube for the throttle cable rusted. As many people say I owned a Fiat once.

2nd 1994 Dodge ram 250 van. The paint fell of the roof about 4 years ago during a rain storm and it is rusting from the bottom up. Break lines rusted and need replaced. This our go to the lumber store ride. We will junk this van and buy a Ford or GMC pickup truck.

I think that it is interesting that the manufactures of the two worse vehicles we have owned are now the same company.

We have had great rides in the form of a 1993 (traded in for the 2008), 1994 (200K + when sold), 2001 (150K and still going)and 2008 Mercury Sables. The 2001 will be traded in for a truck.

My wife drives a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup that has had just one repair, a faulty tie rod end, in eleven years of service. Fantastic vehicle. I think that is why they stopped making them, we keep them too long.
