Windows 8.1 & photo card

I just got a new laptop and it has win. 8.1. UGH in many ways but I cant download zoom browser which comes with my canon rebel to upload and edit my photos. It says on their web site I dont need zoom browser for 8.1. But when I insert my card it wont let me pick and choose which photo I want to upload. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

if you can read the images on your card try uploading them all...then delete on your system which ones you don't want...I just got a new laptop today too with Light room and 8.1 and am scared to even plug it in. :-)

I was not familiar with all the apps etc. I bought ps elements and win. publisher. Still learning but not too hard. Hate the touch screen. Dont use it. I bought a small keyboard and a cord- less mouse.
I like raw personally. I am uploading on my old laptop and then saving on a usb then bringing it to my new laptop. ugh!
