This is my first post here so please be gentle. 8-) Shot this at the Vic Fazio Wildlife area. I am using a Nikon D3100 with a Sigma 150-500. Watched him make a catch, eat and then fly off.
Welcome Roaddog. You won't get shredded unless you post in the photo critique section and ask for it. I'm kidding, but if you really want to know how to make your pics better there are many people here who will help you out with that.
Personally I have better luck with things that don't move. :)

Welcome and that's a heck of a photo I think! My luck is that I would have snapped the picture, but the hawk would have been about a 100 feet away from that post already! Just so dang late on the snap!

Hi there Roaddog...welcome to our little photog family...glad to have you join us :-D BTW...cool capture
Thank you for all the kind words. It is my intention to get better at photography. I am only one year into digital so I am learning. My girlfriend and I love to birdwatch and take photos.
The bird is great but the piece of wood is distracting
Nice job😃

That is a nice shot roaddog.
Good catch. I can't imagine trying to shoot birds in flight with a huge, heavy lens :)
Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.
