My eyes are on Sony RX100 III with 20.1 mega pixels and I search for the best price and got $650 on one site. Is this any better pocket camera (good pictures , please) then this one with that price range? I do need good advice before commit to this one. Thank you

$650 is a very good price for an RX100 III. The RX100 II goes for $648 at B&H. Is it gray market? I would check out that site very carefully. I can't think of any compact at that price with better image quality. Is the 70mm long end long enough for you?

I'm very happy with my Canon Elph 330 HS for less than $150. It is only 12 mega pixel but it is tiny and less than a quarter the cost of the Sony. It is my walking around camera .

Actually, many site with $699 price tag, this is real, not gray market. The i-cart site is very good one. No doubt the Sony RX100 III is awesome, but I don't want a mistake, in the other hand I had a Nikon D800 as DSLR for any big trip.

Welcome to UHH. This is a fantastic camera. I have the first version of the Rx100 and I still love it. You won't go wrong. Good luck.

The only real competition for this camera is the Panasonic LX100. This is a comparison of the two.

I like the Panasonic DMC-ZS40. very long zoom, lots of great features including a small electronic viewfinder for those sunny days where glare keeps you from seeing anything on the "big screen", wifi, excellent video, pano, etc.
Check it out.

I have the Canon 330 HS that schoonerman mentions, but I don't like it. I think the photos are flat and lack a range of tonality.
Whenever I can, I borrow my daughter's Canon Powershot S110. I love that camera. You can shoot raw and get much better photos. I think you can get it for $179 on Amazon now. I wish it had a longer zoom range, however.

Does anyone have input on the Nikon P7800? Seem to be pocketable and have a lot of zoom.

Input? Verdict?

I am very happy with a Canon Powershot SX700 HS. Amazon for $279. Has 30x optical zoom, good quality photos, small compact size for carrying and using. I have a Canon 5D III, but prefer this little camera for walking around. I use a cane so need something I can handle with one hand. Just returned from Russia from using it with great results.

I use the Canon S100 pocket camera for my business. It takes great pictures, easy to use, very reliable, and great indoors or out. A true pocket camera that "fits in your pocket." Would not be without it. My wife has the S95 and loves it. Available on Amazon new or used. Excellent value!

In December 2013 Panasonic came out with a mirror-less fixed lens "bridge camera. Model "LUMIX DMC FZ200". 8 of us, in our photo club bought the little camera and it is amazing. The lens is a Leica Vario-Elmarit 18-600mm with a constant f2.8 aperture thru the entire range. The panasonic electronics are supurb. I personally now only use my Canon 7D occasionally and at 1.5 pounds the little camera generally meets my photography needs. Between us we have gotten club recognition with a number of awards for the quality of the end product images. The Camera was originally sold for $600.00 US, but I've recently seen it advertized under $300. I suggest you check this out if you want a little camera with a big pedigree.
