This is at Shoreline Lake, early on an overcast day. These colorful boat's are just waiting for the day to start, and some to come and ride in them.

Canon EOS Rebel T2i, f/25, 1/13, ISO 200, FL 33mm, metering mode pattern, W/B manual. Shot in manual mode.

Well done photo, I cant think of anything to be improved. The color stands out, the reflection of the clouds in the water is the frosting on the cake. I love how you through the background out of focus. Did you take anymore of this subject? Once I take a overall view like this I like to zoom in get close get the details and find the shot within the shot. Cant wait to see more of your work :XD:

I'm afraid that you have me on that one, I don't know how to find the shot within the shot. I'll get there. I love reflection's, and I really like overcast morning's. I am up before the sun rises (wondering why am I doing this :D ) I love the before the sun rise glow, if it is overcast, then I try for the cloud's, (I love cloud's). No matter what the weather is, I try to make it work for me. I have a lot to learn, I love a challenge and am a out of the box person.

Yep, I do have a few more reflection's, since I shoot in RAW, I still have to post process.

Thanks for the comment.

2 books I highly recomend and ought to be getting a commission for. They are both by Bryan Peterson(my favorite photographer) and come from amphoto press. The first is "understanding eexposure". In easy to understand language and lots of faboulus photos Bryan willl explain fstops shutterspeeds andiso in order to achieve not only the correct exposure but the most CREATIVE one. The second book will help you see the photo oportunitiess there are out there. It is intitled "learning to see creatively". I reread both books every 6 months. it has had a huge impact on my work. I used to only see the oportunities at eye level. Since reading his books (which are available at amazon.com, I checked.) I no longer get into ruts or am bored cause i cant find any subject matter. here are some examples of photos i have taken that were influenced by those 2 books :!: :!: :!:

I love Bryan Peterson and have those 2 books, and another one or two, + I have seen a lot of his video's.
I try doing what he says, it will take a mnute for me to get better. I just saw his latest vid. He is the reason that I bought my Kinko extnder's for my macro 60mm lens, and the macro light ring.
Thanks for the info anyway, I do appreciate it.

I like your photo's.

Thank you very much I like your photos also, even if you are an evil Cannonite instead of behing a devine Nikonian :-D :P How I look for the shot within the shot is I take a general shot first the subject and its enviornment. then i get closer shoot closer shoot and finally finish up focusing on a detail area. for example start with the front of a car, go to fill the screen with grill then shoot hood ornament or door handel. Just walking around a subject moving closer and farther away will inspire different shots. it is a good idea to do this because many times it was the third or fourth photo after my first one that turns out to be the winner of the bunch. Nice thing about digital it allows you to be creative and take riskier shots than film. :!: oh if you go to ppsop.com it is a web site that is run by Mr peterson and offers classes.

I know PPSP, I watch the tutorial's there, this is where I saw Brian Peterson's vid. the other day. I get most of my photography equipment from Adorama.com, this is a part of that. If I'm not mistaken, I have seen all of his video's, I watch them more than once. I tried his oil and water photo, it worked, and was a lot of fun. You know what I think is really cool about him? He uses his wife son, and two daughter's as his model's. Sometimes I have to use myself.

I have just started doing what you just mentioned, it took me a little while to figure out it was all about. I just went to a car show and did just that, I got the grill, very close up, hood ornameni's, hood, and side of the car's. I'm trying to learn how to photograph car-show car's.

I think that I like the evil thing better :) :) :)
