Taking pictures of hummingbirds

The problem with Hummers is that they're so small and antsy, plus, to fill the frame, you need to get close. I usually use a 300 mm with a 2X teleconverter with a ISO of 1600, SS 2000, f5.6 and a remote shutter.
I then pre-focus on the feeder openings after plugging all except two that are 180 degrees apart making sure the sensor is on the same plane as those two holes. You need to be on the same plane because you're dealing with limited depth of field when you're filling the frame.
Then comes the hard part...resting in a lounge chair with the remote in one hand, a cuppa coffee in the other, and wait. Anything in the vicinity gets shot, not a great keeper rate but sometimes you come home with doubles.

Very smart idea plugging the back and front facing you ports so you could get a nice side shot of the hummers.
