The first two photos were taken from a helicopter, the third from a Tundra Rover.
Wonderful photographs. Thanks for posting them.

Great polar bear shots (from a safe distance). I have had the opportunity in the high Canadian arctic to see them many times, most without a camera handy. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Great shots of beautiful animals, who seem so benign and peaceful; ya almost want to get close and pet them!!!

Great shots, #3 is just amazing. Gary
They really blend in don't they? Nice set.
Visitors all too commonly take cautionary advice about polar bears with a bit too much of a grain of salt. One local organization that sponsors visiting scientist decided a few years ago that everyone associated with them was required to sit through a training film. That came as a reaction by the Executive Director overhearing a conversation where a guy described how someone else got out of the vehicle they were using to see the sights, and walked up to about 30 feet from a bear feeding on the Arctic Ocean beach to get better pictures. (If that bear hadn't already had something to eat, the guy would have been dead.)
Young male bears in particular are curious and often decide to check out humans just because they can tell we are alive. That can be exceedingly scary! When alone the only option is to escape (ATV, truck, whatever). But 3 or 4 people who know how can usually scare a bear away by making lots of noise and waving of arms etc. They don't like noise. The ultimate noise is to fire weapon into the ground, or beep the horn of a truck. Either one causes an instant reaction!
