This is growing on a gate to my yard. Natural light, three shot HDR, f14, +- 1.7, ISO 100. Raw files fused in Photomatix Pro, medium sharpening applied.
The large clump is exactly one half inch wide. D5200, 18-55 kit lens with 36mm tube. Is this a macro or a close up?

Macro is generally 1:1 so if it measures half inch on the print its macro if its bigger its probably growing faster due to global warming.....

Your D5200 sensor is 24-mm wide, and an inch = 25.4-mm. Your 1/2-inch wide plant fills close to 1/2 the sensor width, so you are quite close to 1:1 magnification (life-size).
For your own information, photograph a metric ruler (with various tubes) at minimum focusing distances:
