I have a good Canon .. but, would like a good Point & Shoot camera to keep in my pocket for those times when you need to be fast & your big camera is in your back pack! ANY SUGGESTIONS? I was told the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX9V (with the CMOS chip) is the best! What do you think?

I recently got a Canon 12.1 ( Powershot A1200) with a viewfinder and like it really well... Got it on Ebay at a good discount.... Truthfully speaking, they're all probably good cameras if you stick with a good brand...

If you don't like fooling around with settings, a good point&shoot I had the pleasure of using is a Nikon s 8200, it has a CMOS sensor for low light photography and a 14X zoom lens.

I have a Panasonic Lumix that I really like. It's small enough to fit in my shirt pocket. The one I have is a DMC-ZR1 it is 2 years old, they have better ones now. My friend just got one like mine only a new model, he really likes it.

Hi Barb: I bought the Nikon s8100 at Christmas for the wife to take on her trip to Austrila last month. The camera fits her small hands and could be left on automatic. She brought back some great snapshots she took with it. Unfortunately she fell with camera in hand and used it to try breaking her fall, it ended up betewwn her and the concrete. Now I need to send it off for repairs... The camera still works, but it doesn't always when you need it to.

What kind of pix are you taking or need to take? This year Santa brought my girlfriend a Nikon Coolpix120. I haven't checked out other brands because I've always used Nikon. I'm sure Canon makes good products also. If there's a camera shop in your area perhaps they'll let you borrow one/rent one to see if it "fits" your hand. Whatever you get, buy a back-up battery and a extra memory card. Good luck to you!!!!!

Can't beat a Canon S95 Power Shot. Lot's of DSLR like features if you want to use them or just point and shoot.
built in image stabilization.

I've had a Canon S90 for sometime and recently got the S95. These are outstanding cameras. Before them I used the Canon SD series like SD 700 is. The cameras are metal and very competent. I won't leave home without one.

You know the canon menus. Stick with a canon nothing new to learn when it comes to setting up the camera. I would urge you to seriously look at a Canon G12 it has amazing capabilities raw, jpeg, manual, etc.

check out the reviews.

Barb, if you have a canon, stick with a canon piont and shoot. The learning curve will not be so intense for you.
I bought my wife the canon pwershot sx 40 P&S and it is an amazing camera. CMOS sensor articulating view screen and can zoom to 810mm.
In Canada it cost $429.00
