Most will probably recommend 105mm, but either are excellent for portraiture.

The 105 without a doubt.
I've taken thousands with it. My favorite lens

FWIW. In the past, most 105mm lenses had a closer focusing limit than a typical 135mm lens would have ...

I would think THAT, alone, should be a good reason to choose the 105mm lens.

:?: The minimum focusing distance of either lens would be largely impractical for portraiture.

It would probably depend on your normal shooting distance. The 105DC is highly rated by DXO with your D610. The 135DC has not yet been tested by them. I already have an 85mm for closer portraits and will likely buy the 135DC instead of the 70-200 next. But, that doesn't mean that's the choice for you.

Here is someone's review that owned both.

What camera? What do you want to have as a working distance? These are both excellent lenses and either would be a good choice for portrait, as would be the 85 1.8 G or the 85 1.4 AF-S G.
