Hi all,
Before I go any further with this, I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in a Wedding Photography section?

Seems that whenever someone posts that they are shooting a wedding, or interested in shooting weddings, they get a bunch of negative comments about why weddings are so horrible. I'm suggesting a new section for those that DON'T think it is a horrible decision to shoot weddings, and we can share tips, tricks, photos, suggestions on how to build and keep business, etc.

I'm willing to admin it, or share duties with one of the other people that like to offer help.

I just don't want to take the time if nobody else is interested.

Anyone think that might be a section they'd be interested in?

Thanks
bk

Thanks. I've looked for a good wedding photography section on other bulletin boards as well, and there just don't seem to be any out there, at least not that I've found on the free ones.

I like the idea. I have only "done" three weddings as the official photographer, my granddaughter's and two friends'.
It is not likely I will do any more, but I usually read with interest the positive comments about wedding photography, here on the Hog, and as well, I've collected some articles about do's and don'ts, second shooter, check-lists, etc.
I may not be an active participant, but certainly would be an active reader of such a section!

Sounds like a good plan to me. I joined this forum to learn and weddings can be hard to shoot properly, frustrating and nerve racking. I am all for this instructional learning opportunity.

I actually would be interested in that, I do not plan on ever doing wedding photos, but if the situation ever arises I would have a little knowledge and/or a place to go to get help
I visit MOST of the topics here ,

Starting to sound promising. Not sure how many "should" be interested before I make the formal request to Admin. (already have the process started, but will have to come up with rules, and let them know if anyone else is willing to share admin duties with me) They also suggested we figure out a way to get more people to view the section, because it won't automatically print with the daily updates unless someone is subscribed.

I believe that there are already too many sections and there is unnecessary fragmentation. With that said, I think there would be enough interest and participation to justify the addition of wedding photography. I fully support the idea.

This is something I think a lot of people will be interested in, I myself never did a wedding but would like to hear what wedding photographers have to offer.

With a combined 80 years of wedding photography experience, my partner and I would be very interested in participating in a Wedding Photography section. Although I follow the General Photography section avidly I have only responded to topics involving wedding photography. Good luck with this endeavor.

By my count (numbers aren't my strongest suit...along with spelling, grammar, etc) looks like we are at 7 for, and 1 against. I will continue to watch the numbers over the weekend.

My intent is not to fragment the group. It is more to have a place where people can go and discuss wedding photography, and not get blasted with 7 pages of "why I would NEVER do wedding photography" My goal is for it to be a place for positive comments about the industry, and sharing our knowledge with each other so maybe we can help newbies get interested and in the business, as well as maybe helping us "oldies" keep up with current trends.

Thanks

I would be a firm believer that "if you build it they will come" ........ I frequently go to other topic's for the information, even if they don't pertain to me!!
{yes, even "the attic", but do not stay very long} it gets "thick" over there!!!!

I would be interested. Done weddings for 45 years and still looking for new ideas. I think that if you do it you should outlaw any "don't do it" posts. - Dave
