Do any of you carry two camera bodies that use the same lenses and if so how do you use them? Thinking of getting a second camera body and leaving my 75 to 300 lens attached. Currently shooting with an Olympus OMD EM10. I like this system to keep the weight down and wonder if carrying another body would defeat the purpose.

I use the OP/TECH Double sling. I have a D7100 with a tele on my right and a D610 with a W/A on my left. Very convenient.

I often carry a D800 with my 14-24 and a D600 with my 24-70 or my 28-300. However, I'm getting too old to carry that much! :-(

But the double-carry keeps you from tipping over. :D

I usually take both my cameras hiking. My 7D will have the 100-400 lens on it for birds and other wildlife. The 60D will have the 18-200 and I will swap that one out for the 10-22 lens when I want a wider angle for landscapes. I carry them using my cotton carrier so don't notice the weight at all.

Best regards
Richard

I want to get a second body, probably a 7DII, but I will not put the same lens on them. I will use two different lenses of differnt lengths.

I carry an EM10 and an EPL-5 with 75-300 and 14-42 lenses attached. My 60mm macro lens is usually in my bag too. This suits me for when I am visiting natures reserves and want to shoot lots of different things and of course it is quicker to pick up a second camera than changing the lens. For general non-wildlife photography I just take one or the other of the cameras with the 14-42 attached. It all depends on what you like to photograph but personally I like to have the option. It only works for me with a CSC setup though - I wouldn't want the weight of two DSLRs + lenses!

I carry two and sometimes 3. 5D MKIII with 24-70 f/2.8, 5D MKII with 16-36 f/2.8, and sometimes depending on location, 7D with 300 f/2.8 (and possibly a 1.4x)

I have thee Olympus EM1 and EM5, and I often take both. When I'm traveling by car and may run into wildlife sometimes one is equipped with the 75-300 and the other with a prime or the 12-60. When on a trip where I mean to shoot a lot of photos, I primarily use the EM1 but take the backup EM5 as insurance against disaster. On other occasions where I am not as focused on photography I take one or the other, depending on situation. Headed right now to grandson's Thanksgiving program with the EM5 and the old lightweight 40-150.

The EM5 is being discontinued but it's a great little camera, can be had cheap, and has some features even the EM1 lacks (its excellent Sony sensor is better for low light shooting than the Pany sensors in the 1 or 10). Look for a certified refurb, it makes a great backup.

It never hurts to have a second camera. Same grandson "worked on" one of my cameras when he was 3, necessitating a trip to the camera hospital at a time when I really needed it and I was glad to have the extra on hand. You get to choose when and where you include the backup in your gear selection.

All the time. I have two D5100's and often have the 18-55 on one of them and the 55-300 on the other. Other times - like indoor sports I might have the 35 1.8 prime on one and the 85 1.8 prime on the other.

d610 has the 28 to 300 zoom, d800 has the 24-120. I used to keep the 24-70 on one, but needed some extra reach. With the ISO capabilities of the d800 its a great compromise. Waiting to see what succeeds the d810, the updates from the d800 are minor. Would like to see the d820 come out with the flexible screen of the d750.

Yes, I use a 5D and a 7D All lenses not "S" the wide on the 5D gives me max coverage and my long (600 MM) on the 7D gives me distance (960 MM). That , in my mind, gives me a back up camera and the best of full frame an a 1.6X for shooting.

Simple answer: YES. Was on an African photo safari and one of the group had a camera "die." Only one body. Five miserable days.

You mean a broken camera prevented you to enjoy the sight and sounds of a new environment?

Man, you need an 'intervention'.
