Just a little bit of info regarding the amputation. I had my right leg amputated 10 years ago when I was 57 (below the knee). I was determined to regain as many of my activities that I could do before the amp. I could no longer hike or rock climb but I found out I could bike just fine. Driving was relearned without a problem. I could golf (but not quite as well). And I could continue the list of things I can do although with some minor limitations - for the most part.
Today I am retired and now do photography daily. I carry a Canon 5D and some rather weighty lenses - stuff that I wouldn't want to give up. If you are a very recent amputee your will regain strength and learn to compensate - I hope you don't need to replace your equipment.
Questions are welcomed.

Hi Arthur:
I'm interested in the 1.4 extender. Let me know how to proceed.
is the 100 macro an L series lens???
Sorry, just realized it's not. I'm looking for a L in this lens.
ottopj:
Did you buy the camera and lenses new?
How old is the camera?
Thanks,
Sonny
Sorry about your medical issues. I hope I'm not getting to personal but are you dietetic ? The reason I ask,I am. Good luck to you.
Foathog,
The L version is $950 and is also IS. For that much money it should take the pictures, too.
That's what makes this one such a great buy.
Yes, I am. Take care of yourself. Diabetes is a BITCH! Main solution is to keep belly fat off, at least for Type II. I'm working on that.
Yes, camera and lenses were purchased new and I am the only owner. I bought the cameraabout a year before my foot troubles started back in May 2012.
I purchased the lenses after I got the Canon 20D, which I gave to my niece after I got the 7D. The lenses are in great shape.
Actually, everything is in great shape.

I noticed that your 100-400 is an L lens. is that not a good one?? I like shooting macro and portraits. the 100 macro L series does BOTH and very nicely. If I'm going to invest in good glass it would be for this lens. I may even teach it to take the shots itself. LOL
It's an L lens. 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM. Are you interested?

Maybe some time in the future. money is an issue. but my first interest is in the 100 macro L series.. I have a feeling that that lens will get the most action with me. I've been into photography since 1973 but just recently have made the jump to digital. I have a lot of relearning to do. I bought a 7D mii and need to give it a workout.
