Is the D810 worth the switch from Canon 6D? The D810 has great reviews. I shoot Landscape and portraits. I use the canon 24-105 f4

The 6D isn't close. A good camera on it's own merits but outclassed by the D810 in just about every respect, unless you regulary shoot at 12800 or higher ISO.

The only advantages the 6D has over the D810 is it's smaller, cheaper and supports GPS. The D810 has significantly better image quality, lower noise at high iso, bigger screen at higher resolution ect.

Depends on how invested you are in Canon lenses. I'm sure they have a FF model.

Since you have to ask, then you should not switch. I am sure the Canon 6D fits your needs much better than the D810.

"Worth it" depends on A.) your wallet and B.) how important IQ is to you.

The D810 is VASTLY superior to the 6D in both function and image out put.

Put the right lens on the D810 and it will beat the 6D hands down.

Financially you will loose significantly by changing systems.

If you want a more expensive camera, why wouldn't you look at the 5DIII? The D810 is rated better for image quality, the 5DIII better *overall*.

I would like to try the 810, but it doesn't really matter. I have too much money in Canon lens for my 5DIII, so the chances of switching is negligible, particularly since I am just a casual photographer, not a professional, meaning having to make money.

I could easily sell everything, and buy the 810 and some lenses, but not sure it matters. I am quite pleased with the pictures I get from the 5DIII. I don't do movies. One thing I have not done is tried doing inside pictures with a much higher ISO. I tend to stay at ISO 1000.

What lenses do you contemplate purchasing with the D810? Don't bother with less than top quality lenses if you're going to purchase this top quality camera. I understand it may take time to accumulate some, but what ONE top of the line lens would you purchase with this camera?

Uh, the 6D is a full frame camera.

In a word, the 810 is tops in the FX style cameras now available. Next step up is to go medium format such as a Hasselblad H5D-50.
