Down-load is very sharp...nice one.

Thanks Bret! I will focus on technique and composition, instead of more glass.

Carter, what body did you use? I am trying to decide between the Tamron 70-300VC and now the Sigma to use on my Nikon D300. Your advice/feelings/ view would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The new Sigma 18-300mm is an absolutely amazing all-in-one type lens for only $599. Plus its the new Contemporary series and you can custom adjust many of its settings and features with Sigmas USB Dock system right at home! This is a very valuable benefit to Sigmas newer lenses!

Is there a (budget) trinity of lenses?
My Nikon 18-200 vr is one of the sharpest lenses I have. You can buy them used for $299.00 and up !!!

35mm 1.8DX. Fast, sharp, cheap.

Did I mention sharp?

2nd this. Also, there is another prime to recommend and that is the 50 MM D. The D7100 having a drive motor in the camera will auto focus this. I got a grey market from B&H for $109.

I don't know what your budget limit is but my two dream lenses for landscape photography are a Tokina 11-16mm and a Tamron 16-300mm. That will give you all the width and reach you need for landscape shots. I already have the Tokina 11-16. It's sharp, fast and it's great for wide angle I'm saving up for the Tamron 16-300. Hope you end up with lenses that you really like. Good luck.

I am reminded of an amateur photographer on FLICKR named Captain Nikon. He shoots with a D7000 18-105mm lens. Simply amazing pictures!!!

I can only speak on my behalf. This is a question frequently asked and the variation of opinions are endless.
I am sure that if your photographic expertise is good enough those lenses you presently own should fit very nicely the subjects that you have in mind to photograph.
I had a Tokina 12-24 f4 lens and I was very pleased with its quality. It had all the wide angle focal lengths I needed. Your 18-140 is a very versatile lens and the 60mm macro using the crop factor of 1.5 for the APS sensor of your D7100 will give you an equivalent of 90mm with a full frame camera, enough working distance for most nature subjects.
There is only one Trinity for me and that is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I bought the tamron 70-300 vc under 400.00 with the six year warranty after seeing Photosmoke beautiful pictures he took. The other lens to seriously consider is M/T s 28-300 sigma which you probably can get from him.it is more money but has better reach if you can afford it.

How are you finding the Tam . lens.
